Asking For Help Without Asking Permission
There's a gap between what people need and what they'll tell you they need. Sometimes it's pride. Sometimes they don't know how to ask. Sometimes they think it's not your job.
So they carry it alone. And you miss it.
The best leaders I've watched don't wait for the ask. They notice and move. Someone's quieter than usual. A project's slipping. A deadline just landed hard. They don't say "let me know if you need anything." They say "here's what I'm doing."
Then they do it.
Help that shows up before it's requested feels different. It doesn't carry the weight of admission. It's just what shows up when you're actually paying attention.
I've had people thank me for things I offered without them having to say anything. That's the point. The help doesn't come with a bill. It doesn't require vulnerability on their part.
Watch for the moments people are learning to carry something heavy. That's when they need you. Not because they failed. Because they're about to learn something, and you can make that learning cost less.
