Steady by Design
The list is long right now. Motivating and coaching my team, engaging with clients and prospects, the business of running a business, and maintaining a life outside of work that is fulfilling and focused on active well-being.
This is not a complaint. It's the way of a life I have chosen. And I've found that the pressure this entails tests my grounding, patience, and desire for altruism. These areas become my daily goals.
Grounded. I start my day early with an hour of exercise and non-work distraction. I'm a person before I'm a queue.
Focused. I start my workday reflecting on the list of things that would make the day count and are immediately executable. Everything else supports it.
Patient. Even when things don't happen as quickly as I had planned or hoped, I listen and adapt instead of reacting.
Generous. I remember that kindness goes two ways. You give without expecting anything in return; you receive with gratitude.
Why does it matter? I sleep better (most of the time). And I end the week knowing I was busy and present, looking forward, not backward.
